Lexington, SC / Tryon, NC
Ben was and always will be an artist at heart. Just hours before he was to deliver the commencement address to his 1966 graduating class from Lexington High School in Lexington, SC he could be found painting the stoic portrait of a blue-eyed Siamese cat. In addition to all the activities of his high school years, Ben drove to Columbia, SC to take art lessons from Jay Bardin in the relatively new and popular painting medium, acrylics, at the Columbia Museum of Art. His professional architectural degree from Clemson University included courses in sketching, drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture. The years of professional practice as an architect included the privilege of studying oil painting with some of the most noted artists in
this discipline. Ben and his wife, Suzanne, now embrace the opportunity to share through art their continuing travels with Open Studios and Art Craft Shows.
